The Appraisal of 2012 CBIA China Excellence Bio Park

The award cocktail party of 2012 CBIA China Excellence Bio Park was held ceremoniously at Sheraton Shanghai Hongkou Hotel in the evening of June 29. The Organizing Committee of the activity announced the final award-winners and granted awards to the winners of CBIA China Excellence Bio Park and CBIA China Characteristic Bio Park. Jointly hosted by the renowned biopharmaceutical professional consultation agency BioInsight and the professional service outsourcing consultation agency Devott, the activity was launched to help enhance the caliber of the Chinese biopharmaceutical sector to be engaged in the integration and competition of global resources and recommend globally those advanced biopharmaceutical parks that are noted for the best technological advantages, resource values and investment potentials in China.

The final list is determined through intense rivalries and repetitive arguments and evaluations in the expert panel. The appraisals have resulted in five lists, including the CBIA China Excellence Bio Park TOP10, CBIA China Characteristic Bio Park TOP20, CBIA China Promising Bio Park TOP10, CBIA China Impact Bio Park TOP10 and CBIA China Bio CRO Park TOP10.

Comprehensive Investigation Plus In-Depth Visit

There are nearly 100 cities set up with the biopharmaceutical bases and over 300 parks involving the biopharmaceutical business around China, where the cities and parks constitute the two-dimensional competitions in various regions. Cities are deemed to be the clusters of the “micro industrial chains” and the parks the incubators of the “node enterprises”, which have become the core business model with which China participates in the international competitions in terms of innovative favorable policies, absorption of technological results, concentration of product systems and enhancement of service levels etc.

In early 2012, the Organizing Committee conducted, through such professional media as Nature and BioonGroup etc., a round of open surveys with the questions of qualitative appraisal among over 1.5 million elites in the biopharmaceutical sector around the world as well as the collection of the intention of participating in this appraisal among the authoritative experts. In addition, BioInsight conducted in-depth interviews and surveys amongst the globally key biopharmaceutical players in respect of the issues relating to the biopharmaceutical development and parks in China.

BioInsight also interviewed with some leaders of those parks, which are noted for the “micro industrial chains” and “node enterprises”. The leaders interviewed were keenly interested in the Appraisal of 2012 CBIA China Excellence Bio Park and offered some constructive comments on appraisal authoritativeness and in-depth publicity.

Authoritative Model plus Professional Report

In order to guarantee the authoritativeness of the appraisal, the Organizing Committee has adopted strict appraisal mechanism and procedure. A special “2012 CBIA China Excellence Bio Park Appraisal Council” was set up jointly by BioInsight and Devott. The both parties commonly recommended that the “Pyramid Competitiveness” Appraisal Model of Biopharmaceutical Park be adopted in order to comprehensively reflect the overall strength and competitiveness of the various parks and to render authoritative reference to those biopharmaceutical enterprises that are looking for the investment and settlement opportunities.

Devott, the main designer of the “Park’s International Competitiveness” appraisal model, has successfully announced the CBIA China Bio CRO Park TOP10 for four consecutive years from 2008 through 2011, of which the prototype, the appraisal model of the “Pyramid Service Outsourcing Competitiveness” has been widely recognized for its professional performance and, therefore, become a “trump card” played by multiple Chinese parks in the course of inviting foreign investments.

In addition to the authoritative appraisal model, the Organizing Committee has also invited the industrial experts to make comments on the relevant parks’ performances. Eventually the White Book of Biopharmaceutical Industrial Parks in China will be published based on this appraisal for reference purpose to the settlement of biopharmaceutical projects from both at home and abroad and the parks’investment attraction and development.
